This is one stop on a shared guided excursion, rather than an independent cenote visit. Here is how to decide whether it fits your plans.
What happens at the cave
You arrive with your guide during the buggy route. The usual stop is approximately 20–30 minutes, including time to enter, look around and return to the group. It is not 30 minutes of guaranteed swimming time.
You can enjoy the stop without getting into the water. Follow the guide's instructions and assess your own swimming ability before entering. We do not promise life jackets, toilets or changing facilities inside the cave.
The cave and Macao Beach are different stops
The cave is freshwater; Macao is an open beach. Both belong to the standard itinerary, alongside off-road driving. A beach stop does not mean snorkeling equipment or a boat ride is included.
Allow approximately four hours from pickup to return, with around 2.5–3 hours for the route and stops. The order and timing can change with the day's operation.
Check the actual experience before booking
A search for a Punta Cana cenote may also show Hoyo Azul or other separately operated attractions. Those names do not describe an extra admission included in this booking. Compare the itinerary, rather than assuming that all cave tours visit the same place.
Bring swimwear, a towel and a dry change of clothes. Keep valuables protected from water and mud. Drivers need to be 18 or older with a valid license and photo ID; all passengers must be at least 11.
Your questions, answered
Can I skip swimming?
Yes. Cave admission is included but swimming is optional; follow the guide's instructions at the stop.
Does this ticket include Hoyo Azul?
No. This booking includes the cave stop on our buggy itinerary, not a separate Hoyo Azul or Scape Park admission.
Is the cave included in the double buggy price?
Yes. The US$60 double option covers two guests and includes cave admission, the guided route, Macao Beach and shared pickup from the published zones.
